Cautionary Tales
Cautionary Tales From the Diamond Forest
self-released

Cautionary Tales is fronted by Carisa Bianca Mellado and this EP is the bands version of the Little Red Riding Hood story.

We open with the bouncy "Into the Diamond Forest", which has the guitarist setting a strong pace. "Blood in the Garden" is softer, a suspenseful hush as the girl goes exploring into the wild. Mellado's quasi-innocent delivery suits it just fine. The closing "To the Sea" is light and cautiously optimistic. The tale of the girl lost and then found is hardly novel, but it’s been given an intriguing spin here. A longer work in the same vein would be most welcome.
