Inertia/Racing Junior

Endless summer. Yes! From out of nowhere comes Electones with a warm summercloud of a tune, heating up the air heated already. Electones is another project by Hallvard Wennersberg Hagen and Jens Petter Nilsen (known from the indeed playful Xploding Plastix - check out their great album Amateur Girlfriends Go Proskirt Agents, plus additional vocals by Rita Augestad Knudsen.

Their English label says: 'a "soupcon" of Sigur Ros, Stereolab, Tortoise or Squarepusher may be in there somewhere'. And magazines such as Jockey Slut, Muzik Magazine and Mixmag have embraced their smashing songs and sound. Because "Summercloud" is real pleasure as it circles and loops over your head, with Rita's vocals chilling you while the music and its rhythms spin you round and round. "Johnnnie Red" is more like the sound of Ennio Morricone if he was supposed to make this kind of club music electronica. Twang-hop!

"Summercloud" is released as a 12" record, and if they can come up with more of these songs they'll force Röyksopp to move over, taking over the throne.

And, yes: one Strawberry Daiquiri, please...
