Styrofoam
Nothing's Lost
Morr Music

Arne von Petegem or Styrofoam has recorded a new album with a little help from his friends. Lali Puna's Valerie Trebeljahr turns up on opener "Misguided". The melancholy electro pop of "Couches in Alleys" uses Ben Gibbard (The Postal Service/Death Cab For Cutie) to great effect. His forlorn singing is very affecting. Petegem himself is no slouch in the vocal department and sings on some of the album's songs. "Your Eyes only" is a sweet little song with a strong lead vocal and a jazzy mood.

"Front to Back" has a soulful vocal by American Analog Set's Andrew Kenny. The poppy "Anything" is another standout with its catchy melody and charming vocals from Bent van Looy and Japanese singer Miki.

This music may be machine-driven but it has soul.
