Jenny Wilson
Love and Youth
Rabid Records

Jenny Wilson sang in angular indie band First Floor Power but is now stepping out on her own. Thus we get a strong album with a sound that's quite exciting.

"Summer Time - The roughest time" the first single is as catchy as its skewed and odd. Wilson's intriguing voice and her dark words fascinate. "Those Winters" tells of being bullied at school to an austere musical backing. "Would I play with My Band?" has Wilson singing of her early days in her group. It's a musical cross between the Knife's electro sound and Kate Bush's willful experimentalism. "Love ain't just a four letter word" is a soft-focus Yoko Ono gone pop.

Jenny Wilson emerges as a fascinating and original artist with this record.
