Gatsby's American Dream
Volcano
Fearless Records

Potential bleeds like lava from a volcano on the debut of this truly renaissance rock band. They go from melodic punky grooves to prog-metal chops without blinking an eye, thus completely lacking any worthwhile cohesion. Bob Darling lets out an incredible emo whine but can't give Gatsby any real direction. Their Strokes impression for the weird yet romantic "Fable" is somewhat frustrating considering it's misplacement amongst Volcano's surrounding post-hardcore textures.

That said, they manage to give out more flavors than Ben and Jerry's ice cream.
