El Radio Fantastique
Stories for Little Atoms
self-released

Former residents of New Orleans, have formed this band. Married couple Giovanni and June DiMorente form the nucleus of this seven-piece band. The music is intriguingly odd, and many pleasing influences come together to form a cool whole.

"Tiptoe Suicidal" sounds like Divine Comedy, all plum vocals and lush atmospherics. "Two Eyes Drowning" broadens the palette, Giovanni DiMorente sneaking in the odd blues choir as well as strings. They go all Tom Waitsy for the funky "Crime Baby" the distorted vocals and dissonant blues mode are certainly in place.

"Stephanie" is a standout all Brecht/Weill German cool but in its own way. If you ask the band nicely they'll sell you a record from their site. It's worth it.
