Alexa Ray Joel
Sketches
self-released / independent

Alexa Ray Joel has famous parents in Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley. She transcends her origins on this EP though. Her talent is very much her own and her voice is soulful and mature.

"Now It's Gone" highlights the young singer's skilful piano playing and beautiful vocals. The song betrays a slight bluesy slant that's more Norah Jones than her dad. A cover of Neil Young's "Don't let it bring you down" works very well. "The Revolution song" is a lovely track that works well; Joel's voice soars here.

She's clearly got what it takes to make a really great album and I hope she makes it soon.
