After a long break Mary Karlzen returns with a new album. She has a sweet voice and her brand of Americana has been missed. "Straws" is anthemic and catchy, Karlzen singing at the top of her voice. "Skyway" by Paul Westerberg gets covered respectfully and with real soul. "Show Me" is a delightful, string-led ballad that shows Karlzen at her best.
A sensitive rendition of Tom Waits "Heart of Saturday Night" done as a duet with Mattew Ryan is another delight. Karlzen is back, let's hope she sticks around.
