Battlefield Band
Dookin
Temple Records

Battlefield Band's brand of folk was in splendid form on their last album The Road of Tears, their new effort sees them being equally invigorating and skillful. Fiddler Alasdair White is especially inspired here.

"I'm Going To Set You Free" by John Spillane shows the bands ability to play with hearts and instruments aflame. A version of Robert Burns "My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose" is lovely and uses a less familiar melody than other versions. "The Ballad of Accounting" by the great Ewan MacColl gets a sensitive reading. Singer Sean O'Donnell is on top form as he sings of political unrest. Battlefield Band are keeping Scottish folk alive and well.
