Amy Speace
Songs For Bright Street
Wildflower Records

Amy Speace plays a bright-eyed yet gritty take on Americana here. She has a great voice and pens neat songs. Her new record really is a sound for sore ears.

"Water Landing" is soft and slow, Speace singing beautifully. "Two" is a heartbreaking duet with Gary Louris of the Jayhawks. "Shed This Skin" has a Lucinda Willaims-like toughness to it. A neat reading of Blondie's "Dreaming" is yet another sign of Speace's talent. Her band the Tearjerks follow her able lead expertly throughout. A class act trough and through.
