Tyler Burns
Uptown Boys Regular
Good Dog/Bad Dog Records

Tyler Burns favors a bright, synth-based sound in this hook-filled debut. The opening title song might have been recorded in the eighties. Burns has a good voice and thankfully it's as good as the best songs of the era.

"Fir Trees Spies" is a bit of robotic Gary Numan action and uses a neat effect to render Burns voice as android-like as possible. "Red Rope of Jericho" chugs along nicely too. Tyler seems enamored of the past and thankfully it loves him back. This is good music whatever its sound is influenced by. His future's so bright he might need shades.
