Sara Grabow
Rude, Unbending and Lusty
Cope Records
Sara Grabow follows her acclaimed debut "Blueberries" with an equally deft second album. She has a light, poppy style that's akin to that of fellow country-woman Marie Frank.
"Ballroom no 26" gracefully sketches a love that's died without being too sentimental. "River Song" is a duet with Helgi Jonsson that works well, contrasting his darker voice with her sweet one. The country-tinged air is well evoked. "The Oak Tree" uses a poem by Walt Whitman for lyrics and has a lovely melody.
Throughout Grabow's gift for melodic pop is apparent and makes this album a treat.
