Julian Hinton
My Precious Life
self-released

Julian Hinton favors a confessional lyrical style and a lightly jazzy kind of music. It's kind of like Sting when he was good.

"Wash Away" is soft but cuts deep lyrically. It's a good sample of Hinton's style. "Dead Man" uses a catchy soul pop sound that is almost like eighties white soul boys like Hue and Cry. Hinton's sly delivery keeps it from being too retro. The title song is a good evocation of self-doubt set to a mellow backdrop. "The night I let it go" is about reaching a sort of peace with oneself and it is sweet and life affirming. Hinton's debut is a good one.
