Leanne Weatherly
Go and Find
Own /

Leanne Weatherly is a sophisticated jazz singer and she mixes original songs with classics on this pleasing new album. She croons Duke Ellington's "Caravan" nicely while her band rev it up behind her. There's a truly spectacular trumpet part that really stands out. "Go and Find" is one of Weatherly's own songs and it's a relaxed moment with a great sensitivity. She sings of finding love in a convincing way.

"Chocolate and Roses" is a late night sounding song that somehow reminds me of Diana Krall's newer material. Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" gets a fine reading too. Weatherly's album is a joy through and through.
