Glasvegas
A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss)
SonyBMG

Kressmass time es hier again! From the very first time the Scottish accent is thicker than the thickest paint. I was quite curious to check out Glasvegas, working class heroes and hype of the year, doing their little xmas record. Noisy pop-rock in the spirit of Phil Spector. Recorded in Transylvania!

Opener "Careful What You Wish For" sure has got the right christmas mood, so has the title track, which is a killer. But, not as good as its title. The title itself I find brilliant, the song is very cool. The angry broken relationship song "Fuck You It's Over" sounds a bit childish at first, but after some spins it sort of works out. It's sounding like a bizarre mix of The Smiths and Manic Street Preachers. The music of Glasvegas is quite pretentious, but they're getting away with it. I doubt I'll end up as big fan, but I'm somehow attracted to their music. "Cruel Moon" is very fine, and the third Luna song this mooonth. After the first listen I find their "Silent Night / Noapte De Vis" too tacky to be true, but in fact it's not that bad. But, it still is a song I don't understand why they wanted to record, and include here.

As mentioned "A Snowflake Fell..." is really cool and catchy, and probably the xmas song this year. On the alt. side.

PS! If you missed the album earlier this year, you can get the 2CD Glasvegas - Christmas Deluxe Edition, including this EP.
