Devushkin Son
Bistrie sni
Shadowplay

This Russian band makes a compelling mix of trip-hop and darkwave on their new record. Opener "Dreams" throbs darkly with sinister beats and an eerie sense of doomy introspection. "Teardrops" is hauntingly lovely, the singer's vocal set against a soft backdrop. The songs are sung in Russian, which to this listener at least gives them an extra layer of mystery.

"She's Alien" is a track with a feel of recent Lunascape, dreamy and strange. The singer's voice is breathtakingly gorgeous. "Cake and Tea" leads us with a tranquil mood and a memorable melody. I've not heard that much from this part of the world, but this is great stuff.
