The Simple Things
The Simple Things
self-released / TST

The Simple Things' debut arrives, ten bittersweet songs, with great singing and playing. Singer Kathryn McGaw has a pure, sweet tone throughout. "Ferris Wheel" sees her reaching a sweet, yet complex tune that resembles early Rickie Lee Jones. "Trapped in This Hotel" is full of longing and has a peerless vocal to guide its sensitive melody. "What's Good For Me" is funky, sly little number with a great lead vocal. The band really plays to their strengths here.

"The Moon is Torn" is a moving song, written for the bassist's friend who died in an accident. The song is minimalistic, a jazzy feel supporting the lovely melody. This is a fine record.
