Erja Lyytinen
Forbidden Fruit
Ruf

Blues singer and guitarist Erja Lyytinen returns with a new and complex record. "Joyful Misery" is a potent opener, Lyytinen firing on all cylinders both vocally and with her guitar playing. "At least we still fight" is a song of relationship discord rendered with great sensitivity. Lyytinen's vocal is gorgeous and the tune evocative.

The version of "Death Letter" is done in a classic yet fresh style that suits her well. "Change of Season" sees her at her most expressive, singing beautifully to a sturdy backing. She's clearly a good artist in an ever-evolving genre. It's a fine record.
