JJ Schultz
Carolina
Self-released / JJ S
JJ Schultz is a seasoned songwriter and it shows on this album. Opener "Cleveland" paint vivid pictures with small gestures and expert timing. Vocally he recalls
Neil Young a little here. "Alchemy" is another fine example of J. J Schultz' craftsmanship, a song that carefully explores difficult themes with stunning ease. It's
just a voice and guitar and all the better for it. The title song is a tender reverie that he delivers with his usual attention to detail. The melody is sinuous and
supple.
"Across the Bay" closes the album on a good note, Schultz singing to a soft backing with strong sentiments. He's a gifted singer and this is a fine album.
