Dana Buoy
Preacher
Middle West

"Oh, Danny Boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side,
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide."

Danny Boy! No, sorry. Dana Buoy! Dana Buoy, AKA Dana Janssen (a key member of experimental art rock band Akron/Family) is a multi-talented songwriter and instrumentalist. Janssen left Brooklyn in 2010 and he headed west, to Portland, OR, where settled. Janssen combines (to quote the Dana Buoy fb site) '...thick synths, soaring vocal hooks, and washed out harmonies' with his '...infectious energy and indie-pop prowess'. "Preacher" is a pre-taster, lifted from his forthcoming five-song EP entitled Preacher (due out July 22). Janssen's Dana Buoy project made a full-length debut with the praised Summer Bodies (Lefse Records) two years ago, an album which was called 'upbeat and care-free'. As is Janssen's (or Dana Buoy's) music in general.

Preacher EP is said to be 'his finest collection of feel-good jams yet'. And, yes, by listening to the title track you get up-lifted. This is sparkling, prosecco pop-music, just like the band why?, or 'vintage' Rogue Wave or a Panda Bear at his most poppy side. Like another quote from the Dana Buoy fb site: '...infectious and real, and ready for every moment to feel good... This is so good, so pure, so clean. A real nice treat. Like noisey.vice.com phrased it: 'It's impossible to feel shitty when listening to Dana Buoy's track "Preacher"!' Here comes the summer!
