Johanna Lillvik starts her debut with the funny and poignant "Cinderella Stepsisters". It deconstructs the fairytale and hints at the reality at the heart of the fable. Her voice is sharp and acute, and reminds me of Aimee Mann, though the backing is rockier.

"Sadistic Love Song" lives up to its acidic title, and it's a slow ballad with a sweet vocal. It's a deceptive song, a Trojan horse smuggling dark matters. "Murky Waters" is a great song with a cool tempo and an expressive vocal. Lillvik is hard to pinpoint musically, and this EP is a great start for her.
