Islands
Return to Sea
Equator Records

We open with "Swans (Life After Death)". If you enjoyed The Unicorns, you'll enjoy Islands. I'm immediately reminded of people who don't keep very clean houses, have toy-keyboards laying all over the place, perhaps spend too much time on the internet, and are awesome. They know it's shitty but they'll admit that they indeed love indie rock. These fellows seem very innocent to me.

It's funny, because "Swans" is 9:32 long. And it's played and sung the whole time with such enthusiasm. It has a very fragile sound to me. Something that seems almost like it needs protection. An interesting long-intro this "Swans (Life After Death".

Unfortunately this isn't the type of release I can enjoy alone. You almost have to have a friend who also loves this sound to listen with. It's just better that way.

In terms of recordings, I certainly wouldn't consider this a great record. But it's a good new release. We can say that much. It's not very original, but it is something precious nonetheless.
