Rachid Taha
Zoom
Naïve

Rachid Taha has recorded groundbreaking music for eight previous albums and Zoom offers more intriguing sounds.

Opener "Wesh (N'amal)" is a neat melding of East and West with an impassioned vocal. Elvis' "Now or Never" gets a strong interpretation aided by Jeanne Added and it feels fresh and relevant again. Mick Jones from the Clash guests on the album as does the ever-busy Brian Eno. "Les artistes" is an energetic song with a propulsive beat that shows Taha from his best side. His old song "Voila voila" gets reworked with gusto for the finale, and it's a stunning version with growled vocals. Taha has made another great album.
