Buford Pope
Sticks in the throat
Unchained

Buford Pope is actually Mikael Liljeborg of Gotland, Sweden. He has a very Americana-friendly sound on this album though. "She's gotta country mouth" sees Pope use his slightly nasal voice to good effect, to a very catchy and appealing song. The title song is an up-tempo song with Southern rock sound that Pope and his band inhabit well. "Give it up" is on the sensitive side, and Pope makes that work too. It's a Neil Young-esque song with a great chorus. "What will your mama say" closes the album on a good note, a gorgeously delivered song with a bluesy slant. Pope has made a great album.
